Our Story
How did you meet?Chris: We were at a KAPS event at this place called Yoshi's in San Francisco. I saw her walk in, and her face just caught my eye. I lurked around for awhile just keeping tabs on where she was in the room out of the corner of my eye. Okay, I mean, I wasn't like lurking like a stalker or anything, I just mean that I would talk to other people and then every once in awhile just look around to see if she was still there. Doesn't everyone do this? No? Anyways, when we both ended up in a group of people that went to a Korean bar called Playground afterwards, I decided to introduce myself. It was all very smooth. I'm smooth.
Ahnah: I met Chris on August 6, 2009. I was out with my friends, eating my most favorite food, dooboo kimchi when he sat down next to me and said,
"Hi, I'm Chris. What's your name?" |
What did you think of Ahnah/Chris after your first date?Chris: Our first date was at a restaurant called Flytrap in SoMa. Ahnah was a perfect lady (other than eating all of the dessert that we were supposed to share). I knew that I liked her enough to want a second date, but I couldn't really tell what kind of impression I had left on her. So I was just nervous trying to come up with a plan to trick her into falling in love with me on the second date. It took a few more than two dates.
Ahnah: Here is a real gchat conversation I had with my best friend:
4:23 pm Cathie: What did you like most about Chris? 4:36 pm Me: Hmmm... nothing not to like. Now I like everything about him ^__^ |
When did you know that you would like Ahnah/Chris to be your girlfriend/boyfriend?Chris: September 15, 2009, 2:17 pm. Actually, I don't remember. There wasn't really an epiphany or anything, she kind of just grew on me, like a fungus. Wait, wait, let me change my answer. It was the moment I saw her. No, wait, it was the moment I was born.
Ahnah: On September 27, 2009 when Chris asked me to be his girlfriend. :P

What is something about Ahnah/Chris that most people don't know?Chris: Most people think that Ahnah likes shopping, but really she hates it. Also, she is better at singing than people know. She is better than even she knows.
Ahnah: Chris checks himself out like a true rock star. He turns his body to the left and then turns his head to the mirror while making the most awesome "Zoolander" face. He also makes a double gun gesture with his fingers. It's very entertaining to watch!

How has Ahnah/Chris changed since you've started dating in 2009?Chris: Only in good ways :) I love baseball, so obviously anyone I date would inadvertently absorb some additional baseball knowledge. But Ahnah has really embraced it, even suggesting the idea for our baseball ballpark tour in 2012! That's what makes her so great. She especially loves baseball bloopers. She'll watch a batter get hit by a pitch in the crotch and then laugh her face off. It's awesome.
Ahnah: Chris is the same lovable, intelligent, and funny person I met in 2009. The only difference is that now his greatest loves are ME and baseball!

What is something you hope Ahnah/Chris will never change?Chris: I love Ahnah's excitement for experiencing new things. I try to act like I'm too cool for school and that things don't faze me, but there are those moments when Ahnah is so excited about something she can't physically contain herself. For my birthday one year, she was so excited to see my reaction to the gifts that she got me that she was literally jumping up and down. Maybe it's possible to reach a point in life where you feel like you've experienced everything and you're just not excited for anything, but I hope that never happens to Ahnah. I don't think it will.
Ahnah: I hope Chris always stays a nerdy kid at heart. I love how he can spend hours and hours staring at fantasy baseball, solving challenging math problems, doing Jeopardy marathons and assembling Transformer robots. That's my Chris! :)
